"I want to wait until Spring to sell!" This is something we hear often in our day to day conversations with our families, friends and clients. While there are some advantages to the Spring market there are also some tradeoffs and cons to listing with every other home where the sellers think the same things.
COMPETITION:
Competition is increased during the Spring and Summer markets. You are not only fighting for the best price and terms for the sale of your home, you are also competing against many more sellers for the same buyers. Selling in winter may have an advantage, because there are typically less homes for sale and you may find a buyer more easily.
MOTIVATION:
People who are home shopping in winter may be more motivated, it could be a job transfer or an urgent family matter causing people to move closer to other family members. With less homes on the market, your pricing may be higher than during the Spring and Summer rush. Buyers may also may have to move with an accelerated timeline.
These factors may have a dramatic influence on the sale of a home during the winter months, but perhaps in favor of the sellers. Please call us if you have more questions at 262-271-6971.
Thank you,
Team Smith Wisconsin
